Some people don’t just live their lives — they shape the lives of others. Mrs. Suman Bubna, age 75, is one such inspiring figure who has always been the guiding light for the founders of Gyan Deepak. Her firm belief in their vision gave them hope when GDF was a struggling NGO trying to find its way amidst immense darkness. She had instilled these values of serving the society and needy ones since childhood.
Born and brought up in a city, Suman ji’s life changed drastically when she got married at the young age of 18, in 1972 and moved to a remote village. It was here that she came face-to-face with a harsh reality — the quality of education in villages was deeply lacking. For many children, learning was reduced to rote memorization with little understanding, and opportunities for growth were almost non-existent.
She efficiently managed her family responsibilities as a Marwari bahu, wife and mother but something deep inside her was always yearning to do something for the society. So the moment she came to know that seeds of changes is germinating in fire exit area of her own residential building, she wasted no time and joined the movement. And today, at an age when many choose to slow down, Suman ji continues her work with the same fire and passion she carried decades ago. She not only imparts knowledge but also leads with responsibility, heading the Hindi Department at GDF and even managing the operations of the Bihar Hindi Department remotely.
Her journey is a shining reminder that age is just a number when the purpose is strong and the heart is committed. From the dusty lanes of a village in the 1970s to the digital operations of today, Suman ji has carried forward her mission of education with grace, persistence, and unwavering spirit.
Suman Bubna’s story is not just about teaching; it is about transforming lives and proving that passion knows no boundaries of age, place, or time
