Coming from a background in Computer Science Engineering, I’ve always believed in structure, discipline, and impact-driven work. But life took a transformational turn after the birth of my second child. Just fourteen months into motherhood again, a deep voice within told me: “Don’t wait for someone else to fix what you can.”
In my search for meaningful engagement, I knocked on the doors of many NGOs, hoping to contribute with heart and purpose. But I soon realized that I wasn’t truly welcomed. Something felt lacking—not just in the response, but in the entire ecosystem. That’s when the seed of Gyan Deepak was sown—not out of frustration, but out of conviction.
Gyandeepak is not just an organization—it’s a movement of changemakers, especially homemakers, who bring time, skill, and soul to uplift the underserved. We believe in lighting one diya at a time, knowing that even a single flame can dispel darkness.
Today, as I look back at our journey and forward to the road ahead, I am filled with hope and humility. This foundation stands on the belief that anyone can be a spark of change—you don’t need to be perfect, just passionate.
Welcome to Gyandeepak. Together, let’s keep the flame burning.
Co-Founder’s Vision
I believe every child deserves a chance—not just to be educated, but to be seen, heard, and empowered.”
The seeds of Gyandeepak were sown long before the Foundation had a name—during my college internship. While many of my classmates chose to work in daycares, Montessori schools, or Anganwadis, I felt an inner pull to a very different path. I chose to spend three months working in Wadia hospital in a ward with children living with AIDS.
Those three months shaped me in ways I still carry today. I sat beside mothers who had no words left, only tears. I played with children who knew more about medicines than games. I witnessed families torn between shame and survival, yet holding on with unimaginable strength. Amidst all the clinical charts and protocols, I saw something raw and real—the human need to be treated with dignity, to be touched with love, to be seen as more than a diagnosis.
One moment I will never forget: a little boy, no older than six, who had just learned to write his name. He wrote it over and over again on a scrap of paper and handed it to me with the proudest smile—as if he had just taken back some part of his identity the world had tried to strip away.
That moment echoes in me even today.
It taught me that education isn’t just about learning ABCs or 123s—it’s about helping a child say, “I matter.”
Gyandeepak was born from that spirit. Today, I work with a team of homemakers-turned-changemakers to build spaces where underprivileged children receive more than just schooling—they receive belief, belonging, and a future worth dreaming of.
My journey continues, guided by one simple thought: If we can ignite even one diya of knowledge, we’ve already begun to end the darkness.
With gratitude and hope
