Foundation Laid
GDF began in the fire exit area of its founder’s building with just 5 children, committed to transforming lives through education.
First Centre Established
We started our first official terrace classroom in Ballygunge, Kolkata in the same building, marking the start of our structured after-school support program.
Building the GDF model & team expansion
Created GDF’s own curriculum, books, and daily lesson plans—streamlining training and teaching across all centres. Statistics also increased to 10 educators and 55 students
Hope Near the Dumping Yard: Pramod Nagar Opens*
Expanded to Belghoria (Kolkata) with a new centre—reaching more underserved children and families. *it has been shut down at present due to unavoidable circumstances
Bihar Expansion Begins
Launched our Gangdhara Centre in rural Bihar, overcoming local challenges in literacy and infrastructure.
Sonpatahi Centre Established
Opened a second Bihar centre and trained local young women to run and teach at the centre through the Teacher Training Program —creating livelihoods and learning simultaneously.
Salt Lake Centre + Formal Office Setup
Inaugurated a new centre in Salt Lake and set up a dedicated GDF office to support organizational growth.
Opened Gyanpeeth – a first-of-its-kind Montessori for underserved children.
Established our first Montessori centre in Kolkata, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) to provide skill-based, play-oriented early education that’s accessible to all.
Khushmar centre established
With 70 children and 4 dedicated teachers, this centre marks another step towards our dream of bringing the light of education to every child.
500+ Students Strong
GDF is now impacting over 500 children across urban and rural locations—run entirely by trained homemakers and driven by compassion, structure, and purpose.
