Gyan Deepak Foundation began in 2014 with one child, a fire exit corner and a simple wish of a homemaker to teach. What started as a small act of kindness soon became a movement to address one of India’s deepest educational challenges — increasing dropout rates of schools.

With support from other dedicated homemakers and women volunteers, GDF has emerged as a leading example of women led Social Entrepreneurship, now operating across 5 locations in West Bengal and Bihar catering to 500+ students. Their story is not about numbers—it’s about children who once couldn’t read a simple sentence, now topping their classes, and about women who once stayed behind the scenes, now leading from the front.
