The Bihar chapter of the Global Development Foundation (GDF) marked a significant milestone in 2021 with the inauguration of its first center in the heart of Gangdhara, a quaint village nestled in the vibrant state of Bihar. The Gangdhara Centre emerged as a beacon of hope, illuminating the educational landscape of the village and surrounding areas.

Despite the challenges of low literacy rates, the absence of local qualified educators, and infrastructural hurdles such as frequent power outages and limited internet connectivity, the Gangdhara Centre has stood as a testament to the resilience and determination of the community. With 95 students, 7 dedicated teachers, and 2 passionate volunteers, the center has become a hub of learning and growth.

The center's crowning achievement is the launch of an innovative online teacher training program, a first-of-its-kind initiative by GDF, which has empowered local educators with the skills and knowledge to lead the center effectively. This initiative has not only provided employment opportunities but has also fostered a nurturing environment for the children, whose parents are often away for work.

In 2024, the Gangdhara Centre celebrated a remarkable 70% increase in student enrollment, extending its reach to five neighboring villages. This growth is a reflection of the center's unwavering commitment to education and its impact on the community.
