Teaching the toddlers - experience of an elementary teacher

My journey as an educator is around 27 years. For venturing something new I got trained as a Montessorian and worked in the same field. In 2024 I got and grabbed the opportunity to work with the “Gyan Deepak Foundation “because I wanted to explore vast and vivid in a different way. I knew that I now have to work with underprivileged children according to my view kids are after all kids with a pure heart who understands the background they come from and are affectionate for whatever background they come and the “children” of “Gyanpeeth” proved that right When I joined “Gyanpeeth” on April 16th and got attached to flowers yet to bloom. I feel lucky enough to witness their blooming. Phase while engaging myself with them since my joining. Even though the children are from such backgrounds they are learning with interest, owing responsibilities through team-building activities, developing skills playfully and they are enjoying a lot. As the children come from underprivileged backgrounds, sometimes they are mischievous, make mistakes, or are indisciplined, but when they are given advice and instructions to rectify those they listen and try to follow the same in their ways. They are often misunderstood as kids but their senses and emotions are more powerful than any adult and I went through those phases.

Sometimes the children interact and respond in such a mature manner as if they were pre-guided or pre-trained for that topic. ” Gyanpeeth” of “Gyan Deepak Foundation” has provided the platform and environment for such growth and development of their inner potentialities and innovative thoughts to create new ideas and also the scope to open up and express themselves.

Last but not least the daily interaction with the children before the class commences gives me immense pleasure. Every day children gather very close around me in the classroom and share their stories and different day-to-day incidents. This reflects that I have been able to win their love, trust, and confidence which is the most precious gift for me. This informal activity helps to build up a strong foundation and cohesive team.
